Simple Internet Meeting Space (S.I.M.S.) is an affordable, full-featured, easy-to-use conferencing solution that requires no additional software installation or extensive training. Because it utilizes the Macromedia Flash plug-in, users are not restricted to any browser type, version, or operating system. Macromedia Flash has also proven to be the standard for client-based multimedia applications and the newest version is supported in 98% of all web-enabled computers.

S.I.M.S. is perfect for training, education, corporate meetings, or any group meeting where the participants are in remote locations. The application has been designed so that, while extremely efficient, usability has not been sacrificed. Its many features have also been designed to alleviate many of the traditional challenges of video-conferencing. Features include:

Video Snapshots - Before entering the conference, the users must take a 'snapshot'. They may take as many as they like, and the snapshot image serves as their placeholder in the conference until they are made live.

Live Control - The moderator has full control over the live speaker. Only one speaker is live at any time, and the moderator may switch speakers at will. The live speaker window is in the middle of the conference screen.

Mic Request - At any time, any user may request to speak. A speech bubble will appear over their snapshot once this button has been pushed, and pushing it again cancels the request.

Speaking Queue - In order to keep track of speech requests, a number appears in each speech bubble indicating the user's position in line. Cancellation of a speech request automatically results in an update of all other speech bubbles.

Mic Relinquishing - Once the speaker is finished speaking, he/she may hand the mic back to the moderator by pushing this button.

Group Responses - In order to get quick feedback from the group, the moderator may present the group response checkboxes. By clicking this box on their snapshot, each user may toggle between a checkmark, an X, and no response. This feature could be used to get an idea of when everyone has finished watching a video for instance, or to see if everyone understood what was previously said by the speaker.

Flash Presentations - The moderator may present pre-developed Flash presentations, similar to a PowerPoint presentation. Users have the ability to follow with the moderator, or review slides independently.

Video Playback - The moderator may play pre-recorded video files that are streamed to each user in the middle of the conference screen.

Presentation/Video Scaling - The moderator may scale out or in the video and presentation playback window.

Live Indicator - When live, the speaker is notified by a blinking red light, similar to a camcorder light.

Conference Recording - The speaker may start or stop recording the conference at any time. The live window is recorded so each speaker that is made live is simply appended to the file. This can be used for research purposes or to offer the file for download to users after the conference is finished.

Site Integration - Because S.I.M.S. utilizes Flash, it is integrated right into the current look and feel of your website, similar to any other web page. Furthermore, data may be passed into the Flash file for configuration purposes. This is useful in a restricted scenario where only logged in members, for instance, may be able to access the conference, and only certain members would have moderator privileges. Using this method, the server-side scripting language of your choice (ASP, ASP.NET, JSP, PHP, Perl, etc.) can be used to write the parameters that are passed in to the Flash file.

Flexible Hosting - We supply all necessary configuration, license, and application files. You may therefore host the conference on your own system, with your current ISP, or with one of our hosting partners.
